Event Overview:

International schools are listening to the business world and are seeking ways to cultivate entrepreneurial mindsets in their students and develop authentic, real-world connections and partnerships.

"Many companies who have failed to invest in creating an anticipatory mindset and decided to stick to their tried and trusted methods are increasingly struggling to keep up the pace. Those who continue to react and respond to change and fail to act on the Hard Trends shaping the future will be unable to adapt and will only fall farther and farther behind until it's too late." Burrus, D. (2016)

How will we inspire and create a new generation of innovators and entrepreneurs?

The best international schools are working to foster innovation and entrepreneurial thinking in young people. The American School in Japan, in collaboration with peer schools from Singapore and Taipei, are hosting an Engage Innovators and Entrepreneurs Forum and "startup" weekend for students, designed to inspire and challenge young people to pursue their passions and to develop an entrepreneurial mindset.

To launch their event, Jesper Koll, CEO of WisdomTree Japan, will present a keynote address to participating students and ACCJ members to set the context for why innovation and entrepreneurship are essential skills for today and for the future. Five young entrepreneurs, working across fields as diverse as immunology, aging, music therapy, energy, fashion, and microfinance, will share their stories to inspire and frame how social and entrepreneurial thinking is shaping the global context. Co-founders of the Tokyo Impact Hub will also explain how they are supporting the local entrepreneurial ecosystem, providing new pathways for young entrepreneurs in Japan to connect and learn from each other.
