Event Overview:

On September 10, the ACCJ welcomes Dr. Yasuhiro Suzuki, Chief Medical & Global Health Officer of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), to share his perspective on the future landscape of medical oncology and genomics in Japan.

In May 2019, the Central Social Insurance Medical Council approved healthcare coverage for two cancer gene panel tests for the first time ever. All data generated from the reimbursed tests will be submitted to the Center for Cancer Genomics and Advanced Therapeutics (C-CAT). With this critical step in data collection underway, Japan is laying the foundation for future advancements in cancer genomic medicine (がんゲノム医療).

Dr. Suzuki will share his views on the current progress in implementing Japan’s cancer genomic medicine strategy and provide his insights on next steps and challenges ahead.
